McNish: Ive never known a race like itAudi secured an unlikely podium lock-out after issues for all four Peugeot 908s forced them into retirement, with Audis #9 taking victory as a result. The #7 car McNish shared with regular partners Dindo Capello and Tom Kristensen had seen its hopes of challenge for victory ended by an incident involving the GT2 BMW of Andy Priaulx on Saturday but a spirited fightback saw the trio climb back up the order to finish three laps behind the winning on the final step of the podium. "Ive not been involved in a Le Mans like this one in my ten previous starts, McNish admitted. It turned on its head two or three times. From an Audi point of view it was an unbelievable result because we didnt have the outright pace of Peugeot but Audi had the efficiency and reliability plus the team, structure, drivers and engineers that knew, from experience, how to win Le Mans. The result of our car was dictated by Toms incident with Andy Priaulx which was frustrating. But our fight back was intense and we can all be very proud - but that doesnt mean to say that we can forget about the performance of our French friends as we now must focus on the Intercontinental Cup.
