Johnny Mowlem has inked a two-race deal with the PR1 Mathiasen Motorsports team as it prepares to make its debut in the American Le Mans Series.

The team will join the new LMPC class at Long Beach having spent recent seasons running single-seaters with Mowlem set to partner Tom Papadopoulos for the two races.

Following his outings in the Oreca LMP machine, Mowlem will return to the Corsa Motorsports team when it makes a return to the championship with its hybrid-powered Ginetta-Zytek.

"I've been very impressed by Bobby Oergel and his team,” Mowlem said, “and I get a really good feeling that their lack of ALMS background will not matter at all, as they bring a real single-seater professionalism to the way they approach a race weekend.

"Having watched the new class first race at Sebring and the quality of drivers that it attracted both professional and amateur, I saw that LMPC had almost immediately established itself as a very competitive and worthwhile prototype class. I am very much looking forward to racing and getting back to being prototype sharp at one of my all-time favourite circuits, and driving alongside Tom Papadopoulos, who I know will be an excellent team-mate.”
